Default 98 Mazda 626 Running Hot

Hello,

I have 1998 Mazda 626 that I keep having a recurring problem with it running hot. I have had several pressure tests performed by Gas Stations and Dealership with no apparent leaks, yet I have to continue to fill my reserve tank with Water. I have just had my second Thermostat put in and thought that might do the trick, yet on the way to work this morning the needle started moving towards Hot. When that happens, i have to shut the AC off and crank the heat on to get it to cool down....anyone have similar problems and no what the real issue is?

I've had this problem on and off for about a year now.......

Thanks.

Lori

So this running hot saga continues...had a new Thermostat installed (2nd one in last year); radiator flushed and pressure tested (pressure tested 4 times) and no apparent leak. Dealership replaced radiator fan/motor assuming that to be the problem, and it wasn't. Two days after getting my car back, the engine temp gauge started moving toward hot. Turned my A/C off and the needle dropped back to normal. Required my refilling my reservoir/overflow tank every couple days so i can drive. Still no readily apparent leaks..............

Does anyone have a clue as to what the main cause of my engine running hot may be?

1998 Mazda 626, LX! I NEED HELP!!!

Thank you!

How much coolant do you normally have to add every few days? Does the overheat only seem to occur when stopped or in stop and go traffic or does it also do this when driving down the freeway at speeds over 45mph? When the temp gauge starts to get up in the hot area try getting out and checking to see if one or both of your cooling fans are running. This might help to figure out a little more about what is going on.

Hey,

Thank you for responding..so, $1,200.00 later to include: radiator flush, pressure tests, new Radiator Fan/Motor, two Thermostats (and a partridge in a pear tree) and, drive belts replaced (they needed it badly), oil change, tires rotated and balanced..and the culprit appears to have been in my Overflow/Resvoir tank. A little plastic, tank that since it has been replaced, I've shown no more signs of running hot! So, let's knock on wood that this finally has fixed my problem.

I do appreciate BabyHuey, your taking the time to respond..believe me this whole adventure has been a nightmare, not too mention any time i take my car to the dealership for service, I NEVER get out of there for less $1,000.00. That is annoying!

Thank you again! And hopefully, i will not have to address the topic again! More than likely will be something else!

THANK YOU!

Lori
