Default '92 929 Diagnostic codes 15 & 17 ... HELP

I don't know where to locate these problems. I can't find the "oxygen sensor (code 15)" and I don't know what the "feedback system (code 17)" is. Please let me know what I need to do to get this taken care of.

Both codes are actually indications of faulty Left side oxygen sensor. Here are code definitions straight out of factory manual.

15..Left side oxygen sensor output continues less than 0.55 volts for more that 130 seconds after engine exceeds 1,500 rpm.

17..Left side oxygen sensor output continues unchanged for 50 seconds after engine exceeds 1,500 rpm.

Vacuum leak for left bank of cylinders or exhaust leak near the sensor itself could concieveably also cause these codes but would have to be very large leaks to affect sensor operation above that rpm level. If no vacuum leaks found and no exhaust leaks you have probably got a failed oxygen sensor.

You can locate it by first finding the left or drivers side exhaust manifold. Follow it to where it connects to exhaust pipe and sensor should be sticking out of front edge of exhaust pipe just below the maniold to pipe connection point. It is the only sensor in the exhaust with exception of the right side one. If access permits, and it probably will not, then a 22mm box/end wrench can be used to remove and replace. Otherwise a special socket called an O2 sensor socket will probably need to be purchased. They are usually just an extra deep 22mm socket with a slot cut down the side to allow for the wires to stick thru.
