Default '92 323 BPT swap

I am considering swapping the BPT into my 1.6L 1992 323. Can I use my regular FWD transmission on a motor that came out of and AWD car? Are the BPTs mounted transversely on the GTX? I've already lowered the car and replaced the shocks, sway bar links, ball joints, front brakes, front axles, clutch, gas tank, and other various seals and gaskets. As it is now the car handles great, I would just like a bit more power. The frame is not rusted badly. Is it worth all the work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
