89 mazda 929 no spark from coil
Hello everyone,
I have a 89 mazda 929 that will not start. The car cranks but does not start.
Basically, there is no spark comming from the coil.
I checked the voltage to the coil and it is receiving1.7 v to 3 v.
I belive that this is my problem. It is my understanding that it should be 12 v at crank time.
Connected 12 cable from the battery to the coil but still no spark.
Therefore, I think I have two problems: a) the coil may be bad (applying 12 directly does not do anything) and b) not enough voltage to the coil.
My question is what module should I check to see if it is sending proper voltage to the coil?
Could it be the factory alarm system that some how is preventing the car from starting?
Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks,
manuel

RE: 89 mazda 929 no spark from coil
Try to check the igniter i think on 929s is close or next to the ignition coil it should say igniter and I think is mitsubishi my dad has a MPV 929 and Mpvs have the same engine... 3.0 18v so remove the igniter and take it to autozone to have it checked !!!!!
Tell mehow It went!!!
The igniter is the module that creates the PIP signal that the Ignition Coil needs to create spark if the igniter is bad there will be No spark.
