626STW wierd clicking noise... help?
Hi! My Mazda626STW 2000, 1.8 gasoline (run 74600miles) makes a wierd light clicking noise. Its really driving me nuts.
Sounds like a small ugly cricket on the left side somewhere under the hood.
The mystery appears during light acceleration between 1000 and 2000RPMs
The crazy part of it:
The clicking does not "follow" engine RPMs, nor speed.
When engine braking or rolling in gear-no sound. Same clicking independent of gears 1-5. The frequency stays about the same 5clicks/second.
Whitout gear no clicking at all. Clicking not affected by breaking/stearing but when pushing the gas pedal/accelrating faster it dissapears. Engine is running very smooth over all. All vacuum hoses seem fresh and well connected.
Best regards
Fredrik
