Default 626 engine swap

I have a 95 626 with a jdm engine I put in about 1 year ago. The transmission has gone bad. I ran across a 2001 626 with a bad engine but a new rebuilt transmission. Anyone know if I can put the 95 engine in the 01 car. the manual says the only difference is the 01 has a distributorless ignition. Any ideas
Thanks
Ken

Default swap

you would not be able to use the transmition because they do not bolt up correctley and you would have to put a new ignition in the car so you would get spark because the 95 engine has a distributer
