626 Brake Lights

Default 626 Brake Lights

I have a 2000 diesel 626,great car, one problem the handbrake light came on and off for about a month then the ABS light came on as well continuously.I had new rear disks and cables,new brake pads all round.Both lights are still on all the time,anyone any ideas,I disconnected the plus battery terminal,did not help.The thing is I cant get an MOT while these lights are on.Help anyone?????

Under the hood (Edit - 'Bonnet') on the left side near the battery is a small plug socket marked 'diagnostic" on the cover. If you ground the TBS connector in this (I 'think' it's the 2nd from the left on the third row, but check your manual) and then turn the engine to 'on', but don't start it, the ABS light on the dash will flash the error code that is causing the light to be on. It's most likely one of the wheel speed sensors.

The handbrake light is probably just that the cable needs to be adjusted, but might be the parking brake switch.
