323 water leak
Hi all.
I hope this might aid fellow 323 owners that have water coming onto the floor on the front passinger side (RHD)
After removing the cover to the air intake box, i noticed that the vertical opening had a small leak and was not totally sealed to the body below.
I resealed it, and dried the carpet only to find that after a decent down pour I still had soden carpet.
So not to be beaten I went in further. Removing the wipers and then the plastic under the windsheild that the wipers protude from, revealed a small square hole just above the air recirculate outlet. If this hole is not sealed correctly then water gets in and runs down onto the top of the recerculate box from where it runs down under the glove box or glove compartment.
About a year earlier the front windshield was replace and the glass installer must have patched the hole but made a crap job of it. I found a **** from a light dimmer ( im a sparky ) which looks like a small mushroom, filling the underside of the **** with silicon the stalk fitted tightly into the hole which made for a good watertight seal. no more leaks !
. As they say in kiwi land, " sweet as "
I payed 1400 $$ for it and even tho it has done 306000KLMs it still runs sweet as, very tidy with hardly a mark on it. When I get some coin, id like to drop a 12A/ into it. barp barp. Cheers, Mark.
