2000 626 brakes sticking!
drivers side front. two weeks ago i replaced the pads (rotor was ok) and it worked ok for a day than starting grabbing on FR. not having the time 9ouch) i let the wife drive it for a few days until i had a chance to look. with in that time the pad was right down to metal. when i put new pads on again yesterday i also replaced the than gouged rotor and thought to replace the caliper as well, because i thought it was the initial problem to start with.
after a small drive this am the FR is locking up AGAIN!! i am not a mechanic however did replace the pads the first time a few weeks ago but yesterday had the caliper/rotor/pads installed by a licensed mechanic. in describing the "locking"if the car sets for a few minutes without touching the pedal it seems to back off until the next time the pedal is used. no pulsating pedal but the steering is pulling hard as ids the foul odour of brakes (and money) being burned again.anything i should consider before contributing this to another faulty caliper. TIA and great informative site btw. i did search back over 20 pages and saw nothing related to my delima cheers.sam

I would first think the rubber brake hose that connects to the caliper would be a problem I have seen this on cars with high mileage due to the lining inside the hose breaks down and causes a one-way restriction you describe. There might be a contaminent in the brake fluid too causing a problem. It would be good to flush the brake system with new fluid.
thanks bkey71,
yes the car has about 200 k on it..now that you mentioned and i am thinking about it it does seem to make sense the fluid could very well be restricted . here i had it for another caliper when odds are the first one didn't need replacement.
i had a fuel problem on another vehicle that literally drove me nuts, turning out to be collapsed hose, inexpensive part but one i'd just pass over in a check. i' ll also heed the advice on a flush.....i' ll also post back results to save another the fustration maybe in the future.. cheers

wish i would have checked here first but as the old sang goes you live and learn. turned out both front hoses were broken down and the fluid was contaminated and contained to the front only i was told . ended up the master cylinder needed replacing also and after a good flush im good to go again. thz again and next problem i start my trouble shooting here..cheers sam
