Default 1997 323f > Temperature gauge low - possible thermostat problem?

Hi, this is my first time on this forum so hello and I hope you can help me.

I just bought a 1997 323f and so far it's great. However, the temperature gauge is always close to Cold and although it rises it never reaches the desired balance. This could be a problem in the winter time so I'd like to diagnose the problem sooner rather than later.

I had a look in the bonnet and the thermostat is not easy to access at all, so I don't want to start dismantling things without knowing there is definitely a problem. Maybe it is damaged or has been dislodged? Is this a recurring problem with 323s?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Default Temperature gauge low

It may be caused by a falut temp. sensore or bad elec. connection to the sensor
