Default 1993 Cooling Fan Pls Help!

Hi all,

Recently my car OVERHEATING while driving a short distance to the supermarket, lucky it didn't do some serious damage to the engine.
Anyway here is my problem.....i realised that my cooling fan doesn't turn on at all when it needed <--- that is properly why it was OVERHEAT for the first time. Can someone help me out please, also i took 2 pixs of the car...1 is for the entire engine and another is for the 2 fans, can someone tell me which is the A/C and which is the cooling fan for the engine??

I got Mazda 626 1993 Auto, 4 Cylinders and it come with factory air conditioning.

Cheers

2 Fans

and Engine

The cooling fan that cools the engine is generally the larger of the two. It should be the one closer to the transmission side of the engine compartment. Does the fan run when voltage is applied to it directly? That will help to narrow which side of the relay is the problem. The relay could be a prob along with the fuse, coolant temp sensor, (there are two diff ones), or a bad wiring connection.

bkey71 is right. The a/c condenser fan in the one on the right side or towards the front of the engine where the belts are. This fan should only run when the a/c is on. Does not play a role in engine cooling. Does the other fan have four wires to it? If so, you have picked one of the more complex cooling fan systems that Mazda has, to have not operate right. There are three relays that control a two speed fan. All three relays are controlled by the PCM, based on a varying input signal from the fan coolant temp sensor. First is to check to make sure that your coolant level is ok in the radiator. Not just the clear overflow tank but take the radiator cap off when engine is cold and make sure coolant is all the way up to the top. If it is then look at the 40A cooling fan fuse and the 15A engine fuse. I expect the engine fuse to be ok or you would have multiple other problems as well. Just to be safe, this fuse is in the fuse box just to the left of drivers footwell (assuming this is a left hand drive car.) Your fuse box cover should have a 'map' of which fuse is which. You want to remove the one that says 'engine' and will be rated at 15A and make sure that it is ok. After that check the 40A 'cooling fan" fuse in the under hood fuse box . This fuse box is under the hood on the left front corner by the air cleaner. Should say FUSE or RELAY on top. This cover also should have a map of which is the 'cooling fan' fuse. Give a post if any difficulty locating any of these things to check.
