Default turn signal problem

I've just noticed that my right turn signal works intermittently. When it's malfunctioning it blinks only once then stops in the off mode. I've checked the other exterior signals and lights and they all seem to be working properly. I have a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas what the problem might be?

Turn the Hazards on and make sure all the bulbs are good, if they are all flashing and it is still under warranty take it into Mazda.

just checked the hazard signal and they display the same behavior, the right side blinks once then stops in the off mode while the other side continues to operate properly.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order, almost sounds like something in the computer or GEM. By right all bulbs should be flashing the same and the Mazda 3, either version does not have an independent flasher.

I had exactly that problem on my '99 Protege. In my case it was the flasher relay located high under the dash on the driver's side firewall above the clutch mounting (or where the clutch mounting would be). You can locate it by getting it to flash and feeling for a rectangular component that is pulsing.
If the arrangement is the same the relay slides down on its mounting bracket and is extracted by sliding it upward clear of the clip, then pulling it forward, allowing you to remove the relay from its socket.

Thanks for the info. I took it into the dealer this morning but as the story continues... "They couldn't reproduce the problem." Luckily the car is still under warrantee and will be for at least another year. Next time it happens I'll check the relay.
