Transmission issues?

Default Transmission issues?

Hi Folks... this is my first post here. LOVE the new Mazda 3's but I have some questions before buying. Someone I spoke with recently said he worked for Mazda for about a year selling cars. He said that Mazda use to offer a 5 year, 50,000 mile warranty but has recently gone to a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty due to a large amount of transmission trouble in Mazda's in general. He said that his own Mazda's transmission went out at 46,000 miles and that many were going out between 45-50,000 miles. Is this true or doo doo?

Do any of you have that experience? What is your opinion? I really, really, really like the Phantom Purple Mazda 3 with tan interior. AWESOME looking ride!!! I'm happy with the reported mileage although it would be nice if it could compete with the 2007 Nissan Sentra

I'm debating between the 2. The Nissan comes with a ton of extras included, the Mazda has MUCH cooler styling, dashboard, etc. with a little lower mpg rating. Any thoughts?

Practical: Nissan
GROOVIN' car: Mazda

i just started having tranny problems but from the advice i got, its in the clutch. im at about 70,000 miles in my 02 protege5. 5 speed 2.0 ltr. i cleared the 50,000 mark.
