My check engine light is now on , i thought it may have been because i did not turn my gas cap all the way but i do not think that is it , is there anyway to check the codes manualy?

Many parts supply stores are able to check for codes. Call a few and see if any local ones do. Code should start with letter P and then 4 numerical digits such as P0171. Due to the length of time you are describing problem to be occuring without CEL coming on, I am still thinking that the PCV hose has probably ruptured and you have now stored a P0171 and/or P0174 ( system to lean bank 1 and 2 ). Post back with what you find out about the code numbers when you can get them retrieved.
