The newly released Mazda 6E (new to Australian market) full electric car is actually a Changan fully made in China. Well they claim it's built on the same platform but my guess is it's just another rebadge. Looks nice and seems to have good specs. Is this just the thin edge of the wedge with Mazda forward thinking of the future of it's motor industry?

Thank you no thank you I will build another AC Cobra and have a lot more fun and a lot less $$$.

 

Yes we do pay for cars here but remember the Aussie dollar is only around 72 US cents. As far as electric cars go it's around the price of a Tesla.
Building a Cobra over here has become a compliance nightmare and from my contacts it's almost impossible to find engineers to certify them. I still remember as a 17 year old kid looking at a genuine one in a showroom. probably the only genuine one I have ever seen. Should have got a big loan and bought it.

 

Ya that would have been cool. But they were actually fugly in some respects .
Only Someone that really into AC Cobras knows .

One of my AC was Steve Arntz first Cobra 001. It was rough when I found it in a warehouse a guy had several in various states of progress . My second and third ACs were Butlers. I primarily built his as a retailer builder and also serviced our finished other Cobras and Cobra projects for customers for a few years.

 

Equates to USD$38,500. A lot less than a high spec 2026 CX-5

Also a lot cheaper than a Tesla in the USA.
