MX3 will not start, has no spark
hello, hello! Please help.
My 1992 mx3 will not start. It was in a repair shop for over a year. They tried a new distributor tested sensors and never could get it to start, they gave up and made me tow it home about a week ago.
I did the Tens test and got 1 long flash and 8 short flashes. An 18 error code? Oddly, on most trouble codes listed for the mx3 I can't find #18. I found one sight that listed #18 as a bad throttle position sensor? Thoughts?
I stopped driving it in 2009. I would go out and start it up every week to let it run 15-20 minutes and charge the battery. Suddenly one day in 2010 it would not start. Just before I stopped driving it in 2009, it started running poorly when I stopped at traffic lights. I would have to put it in neutral and keep giving it gas or it would die. After I took off it would stumble a little then run ok until the next light. When it was parked in the driveway and I was not taking it out on the road driving it,it would idle very smooth.
I miss driving this car and would very much like to get it running again. Can anyone help me please? I did meter the TPS and it goes to 0.L on the test that requires a feeler gauge when you move the throttle. If you place the gauge in and then meter it, it reads ok. Will a bad TPS cause no spark from the ECU?
