Default Mazda Miata 2000 question!

I just bought a Miata 2000 and upon driving it, it ran great. I
ran through some severe rain (large puddles) and after pulling
over for a leg stretch, the car started to sputter, miss in 1st
and 3rd gears. After changing to second there were nor
problems. I decided to let it sit and dry and try it the next
day. Again, very rough into 1st and reverse gears. Is there some-
thing I should try or does the engine just need time to dry out?

Thanks for any help/advice...

Sounds like you probably sucked some water into your intake air system. Regardless of if the intake is cold air induction type or orignial equipment, I would start by checking the filter element for being soaked and also the air passage before the air filter for water accumulation. Does it look like water may have splashed way up into the engine area. If so then also try removing the spark plug wires and make sure that water is not down inside the spark plug wells in the cylinder head.

hello...i also have a issue with a 2000 miata.
got the car in here about a month ago...it died out on the hwy one day..and i originaly diagnosed it with a bad coil pack after doin a resistance test on the coilpacks..r/r still no start pulled codes from vehicle and the scanner said bad crank sensor..so replaced it and cam sensor...but still no start...main relay seems to be fine..fuel pump relay is operational..and i have traced out wiring since the begining of time on this car and cant find anything wrong..except for testing the ecm i have no idea what else to look for..can any one out there think of anything else i may have missed...i was told to check the angle sensor..but there is not one on this engine..its a 2000 mazda mx5 1.8..
i kinda went through some motions with ecm..but i keep getting a 14 volt reading on most of the pin out test that alldata gave me..
any hellp would be very much appreciated

thanks
