I have a 2005 Mazda 6 with the 3.0L DOHC. I know that the timing cover leaks, but I also see oil under the intake manifold and on the slight shelf you see where the head meets the block. My question is, does the timing cover seal in such a way that a leak in the top side of it will go into the area under the intake or is does it mate to the block in a place where oil from it couldn't get here. I just want to know if the head gasket is leaking oil here. I am skeptical that the head is the source of this oil but just wanted to see if anyone else has observed and repaired this?
