Mazda 5 2010 Blowmotor replacement
Hi all,
My blowmotor which pushes hot or a/c air to all the vents supposedly at the center beneath the dashboard, has been making terrible noise, so finally I took it to my mechanic. He told me that the motor was very hard to get to, and estimated $550 in labor. Then, he said that the new motor is costing $220. My searches online for how much a replacement costs, gives me prices about 1/2 that. I am a little concerned that I am being had. I thought he was trustworthy and took it to him even though he was far away.
Any thoughts, all? Thanks in advance for your help.

Not having the Mazda 5 in my market, I believe it is based on the 2009 - 2012 Mazda 3. If so, the dashboard requires removal to access the heater unit & blower fan.
Depending on $$ per hour for labour, 5.5hrs @ $100/hr, $550 is reasonable. Quick google search = Genuine blower motor is about $200. Aftermarket is around $100.
Prices seem absolutely dead on.

Thanks. Ordinarily a good idea. But right now its in the shop with no way to say no. Besides, things are 100 times more tough with the quarantine.
I think I am OK with what you have already said.
