Hi

I hope this is the right place to post this - I am looking for advice on my Mazda 3 (2010) TS3 diesel.

For a while now the alarm has been going off on its own, at random times day or night, and I can't see an obvious pattern or cause.

The battery is relatively new, replaced 8 months ago. Although the car was sitting without use for a good couple of months (lockdown) it has then had a couple of good runs since then including 150 mile round trip 2 weeks ago and maybe 5-10 short runs (10 mins or so) per week over the last 2-3 weeks. I'm assuming it's not a low battery for that reason - someone has put a volt reader on it and it doesn't show as being low.

I've tried turning off the internal alarm sensor thing on the remote key fob and it still goes off.

I've tried WD40 and cleaning up the boot latch, and it still goes off.

Is there anything else I can try? Any other possible cause?

It went off at 3am last night and it's in a residential street so this is causing me a lot of concern! I can't get to a Mazda dealer either at the moment and not sure this is something a local garage could help with (perhaps specialist?)

Any ideas and tips would be very much welcome!

Your main battery (even only 8 mos old) can not really be checked with a volt gauge you must check the amps during a load (old school ways can be done for those that know how) you really need to properly load test a fully charged to determine the health of the battery.

For the hell of it....change the batteries in all your remotes?

Did you ever figure out what was causing the alarm to randomly go off? I have the same issue with out 2010 Mazda 3. I have a new battery (high quality) and the alarm just randomly goes off. Thinking it may be a door lock sensor or a latch sensor. I have oiled every door lock and latch.

 

Hi - sorry for the slow reply, only just seen this!

I didn't find out what specifically caused it, no - although it seemed to just stop doing it after a while. It *seemed* as though it was more likely to do it in hot weather though not 100%. Also, I had noticed increasingly more issues with the door locking mechanism not locking properly first time (when pressing the fob, it would lock and unlock again - same as how it does when a door is left open - but then a few more tries and it would eventually lock).... this led me to believe it must be something linked to the door latches/sensors, but as it pretty much stopped doing it, I gave up trying to find out!

Thank you for the reply!! I think I am just going to have to take the car to the dealership and have them look at the alarm logs to see if they can narrow the mystery down. It is driving me and the neighbors crazy.

Ugh, yeah, I feel your pain. Mine was going off at all hours of the day and middle of the night in a very residential area - height of summer, everyone having windows open.... ended up resorting to just leaving it unlocked to avoid neighbours getting too angry!! So glad it sorted itself out in the end!

If you do get to the bottom of yours, would you mind posting on here with the answer, might be useful to know in case it starts again! :-)
