Default Mazda 2 passenger airbag

Hi,

I am wanting to put my rear facing baby in the passenger seat next to me as I'm on a 2hour journey and would like to keep an eye on her. The manual states that there is a place to deactivate it under the steering wheel, next to the headlight height adjuster. But the switch shown in the manual is not in my car! I have the basic model 2012 Mazda 2 5 door. I've read somewhere that the bag isnt activated if there is less than50kg on the seat but I'm not sure if this is accurate.
if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

If the SRS ( Airbag ) computer detects a impact, it will fire the Airbags regardless of who or what may or may not be in the seats.

For the safety of your child place them in the rear seat.
