So I'm new to Mazda, CX-5, 47 miles. Decided to check out sport mode on the first day before completely reading the manual. Got on the highway in the middle of a bunch of vehicles and probably did 4000-4250 rpms for 2-3 minutes straight. Couldn't get the gear to change. Then got home and read the notice buried in the manual about not running at high rpms for long periods of time with less than 1000 miles on the car. Are they talking about near-redline rpms? Or did I already do some damage? Thx for any help.
