Help car idles at 2000 rpm
1990 mazda rx 7 idles at 2000 rpm tried to adjust idle didn't work. Also it is leaking coolant but I am not sure where it is comming from. Doesn't seem to be the radiator. White smoke is constantly comming out but gets worse on acceleration. It overheats very quickly. Replaced thermostat and gasket. Any suggestions?

RE: Help car idles at 2000 rpm
its normal for a manual car to idle at 2000 rpm when its cold its kinda its way of warming up.... as for the coolant if ur temp gauge goes above normal runnin temp there could be several reason... 1. ur coolant is too diluded with water( wich means the water is evaporating leaving not enough coolant, overheating)(could also be the white smoke u say..)2.could also be ur cooling fan thats not working overheating the coolant(when coolant is overheated it expands wich will find a way out when the reservoir is full(coolant spilling on hot engine parts creates a white smoke as well))3. if its leaking u should chek the hoses for cracks( if there is no cracks u should probably get a radiator flush they will the will top up ur fluid correctly)(i recomend pre-deluided coolant) as for the aceleration im not sure......... my suggestions....
