ok 03 protege DX sedan... so i installed the alternator in the car. its brand new. it works fine... however the belt squeals like a banshee... i tighten the belt and the squeal goes away, but then moments later the battery light turns on in the car same as it did before when i had the issue to change the alternator in the first place. so i loosen the belt and it works fine again, just squeals like hell... what can i do to fix this, im tired of waking up my neighbors at 4 am when i leave every day, and scaring people in parking lots.

anybody have and ideas? other than silicone spray...

Check the belt. Make sure it is not worn. If it is, then replace it. More then likely it is. When the belt wears, its traction decreases and therefore may start slipping around the pulleys causing the squealing.
