Looking for some help I have a 2000 MPV my wife went out to start the van and it turns over and I can smell gas but would not start. I got the van to start by stepping on the gas multiple times. I drove around town and the van started and stopped with no problems the idle was good to. Would anyone have any idea why it had a hard time starting. One more thing when this van is cold it has a loud humming noise that sounds like a fog horn when we step on the gas the noise stops. Thanks Mike

 

Have you looked under the hood? That probably is an air intake leak. Pinpoint it next time you start it cold, you will need two people.
