Default Delay in starting with key in ignition

I’m having a strange issue with 2008 Mazda Tribute. Previously, I could put my key in the ignition as soon as I get in the car, turn the key, car would start. Now, I sometimes have to put the key in the ignition, half turn it to the ACC position, wait a few seconds, and then start the car. If I try to start it like I used to, the full turn results in nothing happening – almost like I have a dead battery.

Any idea on what this could be?

Could be a weak or failing battery or the accessory relay sticking or slow to respond or even a high resistance in the starter solenoid, best bet get an auto electrician to check it
