Question Corroded water/heater pipes

Hi all,

Whilst performing my (07 143bhp TD) service yesterday with the sump cover removed, I noticed that the two metal water (heating) pipes underneath the engine were heavily corroded and flaking. I have been trying to find some new pipes to replace my life expired ones, does anyone know where I could purchase these (UK)? I have found some on eBay but they didn't look much better than the ones I have fitted!

Is this an inherent issue with corrosion on these pipes or am i just unlucky?

I'm hoping that there may be replacements of a different material such as stainless steel or similar.

Cheers,

Carl

Can you post some images? I have to assume these are bronze/brass?

I'm guessing you have either a M3 or M6 diesel?

Also I'm guessing they put salt on the roads in the UK?

hi all,

Here is a picture of the pipes in question from ebay: 2002 - 2007 MAZDA 6 DIESEL WATER PIPES - UNDER ENGINE | eBay

They look like they are steel due to the level of corrosion, the area is protected by the sump guard so in theory should have been OK

I didn't get round to photographing the corrosion as I thought this may have been a known condition and the car is now boxed up

Cheers,

Carl
