Wanted to leave this up for discussion - I am a new owner of a Mazda 3

I recently went to a dealership and they suggested I change my cabin filter.

They wanted $58 to change the filter. I declined because it seemed too high of a price.

I went online to Amazon because I always use Amazon and found cabin air filters to be super cheap. I ended up ordering Cleenaire CAF4561 which was only $9.97

I received the filter the other day and it looks as if it is the same as the one that is already in the car... almost exact?

I don't understand how OEM can cost so much more. Is there anyone that only uses OEM? It feels as if it would be a waste of money.

 

Did dealer price include the labor? 3's can be a pain in the donkey depending on year. If your handy with a screwdriver and can crouch under the dash, by all means go with an aftermarket and save some coin.

 

err.. looks like the 2014+ models just need you to drop the glove box (2 clips) and the filter can be yanked right out.
