Default Battery Drain / telematics

Does anyone here have any experience with battery drain on the CX-05?

About a month ago we bought a 3-year old CX-05. The car has been great to drive so far, but a couple of weeks into use we started having issues with starting the car - it seems like there is a battery drain and if the car isn't used for a couple of days then the battery can be left completely flat.

We've been trying to eliminate everything we can think of as the possible cause and but the only thing we can find so far is with the telematics black box which we installed for insurance. Our previous car had no issues with using it, but this week we removed the device and the battery problems stopped.

Anyone else had this kind of problem?

What circuit or circuits was it wired into?

Most likely it wasn't allowing the modules to go into sleep mode.

When not in sleep mode the car can consume upwards of 0.5amps v's 0.005amps in sleep mode.

Also was the vehicle always locked when not in use?

Thanks for the reply.

The telematics device gets fitted into the on-board diagnostics socket of the dashboard.

And yes, ever since the first time the battery went dead we have been very careful making sure everything was locked and switched-off.

Never never plug anything into the diagnostic plug other than a scan tool.

It's there purely to allow diagnostic & programming access to the onboard computers.

Plug & play into the Data Link Connector.

My wife CX-5 did the same thing, the dealer uploaded a fix in the infotainement system and it works fine now. It had to do with the computer running the parking light program and not stopping. The lights turned off but the program was still running. Does not affect the GT model. After a couple days we had to get it towed. It now works perfectly.
