Default Any pointers on Door Panel Removal?

I have to remove the inner door panel to get to this door switch. I have a 1998 B2500. So far I removed the black handle on the door with two screws and removed the screws visible under this. Then I saw another screw on the lower outer corner of the door. How do I get the window crank off? Are there more screws or only clips?

Once I get the panel out, do I have to remove this plastic layer to get to the door switch? Hopefully someone knows how to do this so I can find out before working on it again tomorrow! Thanks

Default RE: Any pointers on Door Panel Removal?

If you have removed all four screws that you mentioned then you have them all. No more left holding the door panel on. The crank handle outer cover needs to be popped out and pivoted out of the way as shown in the pic below. You will then need to have a T-20 torx screwdriver similar to the one also in the pic to remove the screw that holds the crank handle on. A short bit will not have enough reach to get to the screw inside. Once the handle is off then you need to slide the door panel straight upward approx 1-2 inches and then pull outward to release the retaining pins. You do not need to remove the entire vapor barrier. Just peel the rear portioin aside enough to let you get inside of the panel. You will probably need to remove the latch assembly to access the interior light switch. You should see two separate switches with two wire to each of them. The one on the botton is the door ajar switch and the one on the side is the interior light switch.

Default Are the interior light switches the same as the door ajar ones?

Do those interior door light switches come out the same way the door ajar switches? I got both of those out and cleaned. They operate now. Of course I missed the second set of switches. Are they the same and which way do you turn them to get them out?

Thanks!
