98 mazda 626 no sound from radio

1998 mazda 626 no sound from radio speakers
Any common repairs for no sound from the radio ? My 16 yr old just informed me that her radio comes on but no sound from the speakers. Not even static. Any ideas before I take it to the garage to get it fixed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the fuses. I believe there is a fuse for the amp under the hood. Check the interior fuse panel also.

If it came with the factory bose system and you changed it to another stereo(aftermarket) you will not get sound. You will need a pac oem unit for this to turn on the factory amps. Hope this helps
