Default 97 Protoge PCU location

Thanks for the help right off.. My wife has a friend who has a 97 Protege and she is tring to get it inspected but has an engine light on so took it to a shop and they told her it was an o2 sensor ok no big deal well then another thing and another thing and again so 600.00 later they now tell her it has to be her computer so they will fix it for another 800.00 well she does not have that kind of money so I told her if that is true they are easy to swap out and I found a place on ebay that has them for 75.00.. But i need to look at it and check the oem #.. So need to know where it is before i start pulling the dash out to find out its just behind a kick panel or something.. And I hope this will fix it for her..

Also if anyone had any other input on if the PCU could do this and make them chase thier tail replacing stuff or if the shop is just taking her for a walk before we order another part she may or may not need.

Thanks again..
Terry

Under the raidio center dash. But most states have a dollar amount to spend attempting to get a vehicle to pass, once you hit that dollar amount they will sticker it for one year. Also wheover is working on it is just plain robbing you blind. I would pull the car out of there, report them to the BBB and get another opinion. Then i would attempt to get some money back from them, even if it is just the labor. It sounds like they are just swapping parts til they get lucky.
