Default '86 323 won't start

This car has been a daily runner but suddenly it won't start. Occasionally it tries but stops immediately. I've changed the fuel filter but nothing. I did notice there seemed to be very little pressure when I remove the hose from the filter, only spilled a teaspoon or so. With fuel injection I gotta believe I'm not getting enough pressure. I'm not cherishing the idea of replacing the fuel pump so I'm here to see if there's a way to test the pump or find out if there's something else that might be causing the problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Dave

perhaps find a point under th car where there is a break in the fuel line that you can disconnect...im not sure if the pump is in tank or not...but if you can check the pressure at a certain point under the car you could tell if it were a blockage somewhere...or perhaps a fuel pressure regulartor issue?
