2005 Mazda3 Climate Control Unit~ Air Conditioning Flickering.
Hello all, just got back from the dealer. Not that I wanted to bring my car there in the first place. My friend the local mechanic does more mechanical work and not wiring like this issue.
My air conditioning has been flickering on and off when I use the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, setting on the fan control ****. Sometime the air conditioning light will just turn off. The fan is still blowing, my heat works, and the air conditioning compressor kicks on and cools when the light is on. But it seems the switch is not making a connection except on 4, and sometimes even not then. I was thinking that there is a bad connection somewhere and that they could clean it out or locate the connection.
My dealer says no, they think its a bad "chip" and they need to replace the entire climate control unit. To the tune of $1000.00 USD. Explaining that the unit is $600 bucks.
I'm driving back to the dealer to pick up my car, as I don't have that kind of capital right now, and i can wait a few weeks till summer hits and I need AC on my 2 hour commutes.
Any idea on what a better fix for this might be? Can I take apart my dash and clean or solder anything to fix this?
