i recently purchased a 1980 rx7. The original owner swapped the stock engine for a later model 13b turbo engine. I need to order parts for this engine ( thermostat, water pump etc).
The spare parts shop wants to know what model mazda the engine came out off.
How do i tell what model mazda the engine came out off? Year model, series etc. Is their a serial number or engine number i can go of or just visual appearance? help appreciated.

 

the original owner didnt that you WHAT it came out of? i would imagine that they had to match the ECU with the engine...so he has to know what it came out of..

 

Look on the right front of the engine for the oil metering pump. 86-88 used a mechanical pump & 89-91 used an electronic one.
