Default Mazda 6 2003 TS O/E radio problem

Hi,
I have a 2003 Mazda 6 TS with O/E radio/Cd and have a problem that has suddenly occurred. The radio works but none of the buttons on the radio or the sterring wheel seem to work anymore. The LCD display works and the buttons for this are un-responsive too. Truely confusing as all worked the last time, car was driven. No one has tampered with any wiring or touched any components. I cannot search on radio or control the CD. Someone please help before i go CRAZY!!!

Regards to all.

It sounds to me like it lost it's interface... interface w/what I am not sure though.
Have you tried disconnecting to battery to reset the ECU/PCM?? Disconnect the batteryfor @ least ten minutes.Duringthat time step on the brake pedal a few times, turn the lights on, etc to discharge any capacitors, then reconnect.
You will lose your trip mileage, clock setting and radio presets, but it just may solve your problem.

Thanks for your reply i will try it nothing to lose. Spoke to the Mazda dealer today about it and they have had a couple like this and it was the faceplate. A new one costs ÂŁ369 +labour + vat, I will be checking out ebay if your suggestion doesn't work.

Thanks again

Thanks again, did as you suggested and took the battery off, left it for a while then reconnected.
Radio functions all working fine again.

Cheers

Great, but I'm not surprised either. The electronics in our cars are controlling nearly every function. they are both a blessing and a curse.
Your welcome, and glad to be of service.

Thanks guys,

I googled this same problem and found this forum. It really says something for a well-worded question, and a well worded answer. Do I love the internet or what
