Just thought I would let everyone know there is a recall on all CX-5 models. I came across this article today concerning the issue

"The popular Mazda CX-5 crossover is going to become scarce for a while: Mazda is issuing a stop sale on all 2014-2016 CX-5s after proactively filing a safety report with NHTSA -- that means the stop-sale wasn’t sparked by any external investigation. Mazda says the issue affecting 264,400 CX-5s involves a fuel filler pipe that could rupture during a rear-end collision, potentially causing a fuel leak. Mazda says there have been no injuries or accidents resulting from the problem, and the company appears to be taking steps to keep it that way. Concerned owners can contact NHTSA at 888-327-4236 or Mazda customer service at 800-222-5500. Dealers will provide a free loaner for drivers worried about safety before the repair becomes available." - Autoweek.com

 

All CX5's? Or Just American Models?

 

American models specifically. About 265,000 cars

 

I have a latin-american model...

sales rep told me it doesn´t affect mine.. .however; who can trust the stealership ??

 

should i expect a call from Mazda?

 

Just my luck lol. I was going to pick up my new CX5 this weekend and now all of them are on sales hold. Does anyone know how and when they will have this fixed? I talked with Mazda this morning and they do not have an ETA.

 

I spoke to Mazda today and of course they are getting bombarded with calls. They said they are working on the part and should have it in production in the "next few weeks". They are in the process of sending out the recall notices to current owners now. They are going to have to replace the fuel line in the rear of the car on every CX-5 from 2014-2016.5. They will have to do both new cars on the lot and the many on the road at the same time he said. He said it's only going to be about a 30 minute wait/fix.

For now I am going to pass on getting a loaner car as I think that I can make it for 4 or 5 weeks and not end up like a 1974 Fiero. Basically a crash test revealed that on certain rear end impacts the fuel line can rupture. The replacement is a flexible piece.

I just got a call from the dealership. The recall has been completed, come on down and pick up your car

 

How come other territories are not affected? Don't all CX5s share the same fuel filler system? (excluding RHD models that might be different).
