Shaving Emblems years after purchase?

Is it possible to shave emblems long after the car was produced and they were put on? If so, how do you do it?

if you are talking about mazda badges that are plastic they are held on by some 3m tape basicly so just pop it off and use a cleaner or solvent that wont hurt the paint ( gas works )
