Thats why i hate car alarms. Just rip it out and put GPS into it. Most people dont even look at cars when alarm is blaring anyway they usually want someone to steal it so it stops annoying their ears.

I mainly stopped getting car alarms for this very reason but most of time when it plays up its usually one of the door switches that go first before its anything else cause they get rusty and losing contact so cause a false positive. I used to have a viper with voice module and at night it was always chirp and say "Warning, please step away" and then one day i stayed up and watched the car and guess what it was. Stupid cat jumping on hood at night cause it was warm lol.

For a factory and even aftermarket alarm system unless notes NOT to by the manufacture, alarm the first thing I might try is disconnect the y battery for about 10-15 minutes. Re-connect the battery and then go directly to the setting and enter DEFAULT setting set the alarm exiting and locking the doors. Then see what happens. If all works then go and set personal alarm preferences.

If the ALARM is set up properly and you use a non-conventional horn or at least a horn that is not as often family sounding let me tell you, you get lots of attention.
I run it though my factory OEM horns and also 2 aftermarket long horns. LOL Everybody looks!!

wap ...I have an alarm that has a choice of a few phrases and also a command area to record my own voice.
I have had *Viper on many vehicles and even on my Ultralite and they all work excellently. (if installed and set up properly)
You may even remember in the late 70'searly 80's an alarm that also would "ZAP" the person if they touched any metal part of the car. LOL It was pulled from the market around 1982-83? I know I use to *carry them in my shop sold a few . LOLt
Oh wait you couldn't have remembered now that I think about your aprox. age...

HAHAHA@zap. I always wanted one you could program, never ended up finding one. Alarms have gone out of fashion but the ones that go off when the door is opened I think are still useful just not the shock sensors. Ya alarms rarely ever fault, just the door sensors play up if not protected properly from the environment. I had a viper on my old Mitsi Celeste lol.

My friend's shop in Aptos California installs custom security systems at least 1 per month during winter. During the summer he is backed up with alarm installs and clear bra installations for customers and a couple dealerships in San Jose.
My current custom assembled alarm system has several components from different companies. The remote unit is Cliford. The main computer It is completely programable with several sensors and a fuel cut off relay that if the car is hot wired or stolen with my FAB unless you enter the code during start the engine will shut off after less than a mile. The GPS sensor records exactly where the MAZDA is stopped the information forward it to my other *devices. I have remote start and camera activation ( 4 cams ) and that recorded active viewing is sent to my devices among other things if the vehicle is changes horizontal position by 1 degree. All this and an alert that is sent to *my phone, iPad, PC, and my wife as well if any tampering is done to the MAZDA.
