Flew commercial and reserve until 2001 when I retired from the navy reserves then finally retired from flying in 2015. Had a lot of spare time when I was not flying so I flipped a lot of cars out of my backyard shop, I bought three tr-6's in 1988 and used all the parts to restore one to excellent condition. I still own it and drive it almost weekly.

I really wanted to get one of those when I was stationed in Germany in 1970, but a 1LT's pay wasn't that great and my wife and I knew I was heading to Viet Nam and she wanted something a bit more practical. Always liked them and that's a beauty.

First real job was in a machine shop for a prominent outboard motor company. Left that job after 4 years to go to college as a Physics major, Philosophy major with a Math minor. LONG story, ended up with a Recreation Degree. Worked as a YMCA professional for 5 years before taking my math credits and becoming a High School Mathematics teacher, first in Southern California (6 years), then 28 years in Wisconsin.
Retired from teaching at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

I am an HVAC tech. Currently I work on the air conditioners for cell phone towers. (In the little building at the bottom of the tower, yes, I do get asked if they are on top by some people.)

I have owned several vehicles - some that were new, some that were used and a handful of them that were abused. I've always been pretty good about taking care of things and very few of the cars I owned every failed on me..

Started my apprenticeship as a motor mechanic back in 1967.

Worked in general workshops on all vehicles and trucks that came in the door.

Started teaching in 1981 and progressed up to head teacher before retiring from full time teaching in 2002 and continued working for myself as a mobile mechanic. Still working but reduced hours.

Currently specializing in Delco engine management ECU tuning as a hobby. Really enjoy that.

Qualifications are Advanced Diploma of Mechanical Engineering along with many other quals required for trade practice.

Worked on the SAE Australasian committee for 10 years having input with local decision making and vehicle modifications.

Only have 12 cars many highly modified the most enjoyable being my Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution race car which I use in club events and my MX5.

Member of the MX5 club of NSW participating in club events both on and off the track. For the last 14 years.

Vice president of The Australian Historic Motor Club providing information and support for club members.

Also a contributor to other forums like Hyundai, PCM hacking and Isuzu.
Oh I left out I am also a member of Motorsport Australia where my wife and me participate in course mashalling and scrutineering at racing events.

With all the world wide membership on this forum it would be interesting to learn what some of us did (many members retired) or presently do for a living. Also what kind of experience and education in the chosen field of study or career choice? I would say post anything you feel like from a paper boy, professional couch potato to a CEO in Facebook or Rocket Scientist.
