RE: what did you jump out from?
I Bet it was!
I remember my Dad had a 65 Ford with a stepside box... He beefedup the suspension but put in a 283. Used it to haul around his "Classic" Harley Davidson model 74. The one with the"Suicide Shifter" beside the gas tank.
I had great toys to play with growing up.

my dad has a 79 with a suicide shift. i think my next project is going to be a truck.
my idea: 383 stroker, tunnel ram intake, twin 750 holleys, big cam, and a chevy s-10. i think that's what is next.

RE: what did you jump out from?
yep - us old fellers have long lists. I started out with a 48 Chevy 2door that my dad helped me buy. Shiny black. Did my first brake job on it. Traded for a 55 Chevy Nova. Hated it! This was before they were considered "classics" and that car did terrible things to me. Broke a heater hose one Sunday morning on the way to church and puked antifreeze all over me and my lady. Got rid of it and went foreign. Jumped into a 59Austin Healy Sprite that was a gas to drive - - - flat out all the time just to keep up with traffic. Then to a 61 Sunbeam Alpine with detachable hard top - lovely little car. Then to a 64 Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale - - - rare car that was so pretty it brought tears to your eyes. Restored it and won trophies at concours d elegance shows. It made the most beautiful sounds and the 5 speed (one of the first available I think) was a delight. 1965 Mustang notchback - metallic green with saddle tan interior - 289 - was the first new car I ever bought. Loved it. Then to a 73 Pinto wagon and say what you will about Pintos - it was a great little car. Dependable and practical and I really liked it. Somewhere along the way picked up a 1936 Chevy half-ton pickup that I restored - my only experience with an antique and it was very very fun. All original and a trophy winner. Went to a 92 Subaru Loyale wagon that is much like the Pinto - totally reliable and practical and dependable. It's now my wife's car and she loves it still. About 4 years ago got my 92 Mazda B2600i pickup with the extra cab. 100,000 miles on it when I got it but running good and looking great. I love the truck - it's my daily driver.
Wife is talking about when I retire trading it and the Subaru in on another Subaru but I don't know - we'll see when the time comes,
