I am converting over to no points. This way I am not limited with ignition timing.

Thats funny... I was just researching AC/DC C.D.I. ignitions off of the China powersports stuff, for myself.

I have a Honda GX style clone engine that I want on CDI FOR the rev limit features. A simple fat tire minibike, but the hardtail makes me need the rev limit! 😉
I also could use the voltage in other ways, like lighting... I do want to eventually attempt to register/plate the mini. If not... I will tint my helmet and get some long sleeves. 👹 (Working on my bird finger motion...)

Converting to electronic ignition allows better ignition timing adjustments that I need for the camshaft I had ground to my specifications.

I catch your drift... I figured as much, since we haven't seen the piston. 😉

Solves that.

I have to confess... I confused this project with a different 2 stroke project that I was following. I put it together with the AMA discussions we had in the past. Hence the port timing and piston comments. My fault, I will go sit in the corner. 😇

I remember now... did you ever receive that black phenolic resin sheet? Is it real?

That's one nice piston. Nice to see one with a good skirt not like many manufacturers these days.

It is a PTFE coated . The dome is polished and the valve cuts fit the valves and clearances need for my spec’s camshaft.
I was going to gas port the dome but thought that was a bit extreme, but I did have to machine larger ring groves for the automotive total seal oil and compression rings I am using. Not really a common practice used on motorcycle engines .

It must get some serious swirl during combustion due to the shape of the piston crown. Should imagine it would have a dramatic reduction for detonation occurring and a good power increase.. If it wasn't flycut and fitted with an oil ring I'd almost say it was for a 2 stroke loop charged engine.
