Not many Mazda's were actually sold in USA in the 1990's though my ex-brother-in-law did have an RX-7.
The best-selling cars in the US during the 90's were the Honda Accord, Ford Taurus and Toyota Camry.

Totally agree about regional variations! The Mazda RX-7 is such a legend, even if they weren't super common everywhere. Here in the US, I definitely remember seeing a lot of Accords, Tauruses, and Camrys on the road back then.
