Hey guys ive got a idea

Im wanting to change my ghetto mirrors to something cool
ive worked with fiberglass before and laying it down

and recently learned how to lay carbon fiber, its just the same.

so do you think wrapping carbonfiber around my mirriors would look cool?

i found a thread on another site that the person customer made clear lights
and since you cant buy clear corners for a 94 protege or even tail lights, making some nice tail lights with CF laid in them?
would probably want to go buy some junkers at the local junk yard and not use mine.....

 

Oh cool, I think it'd look great. if you're doing the tail lights, try to keep from the stereotypical blackish with round cutouts, it looks to Euro ricer, Go for like a 2 cm thick accenting taillight surround (apply to the outside of the light with 3M tape) and tint the lights themselvs to be darker almost black to match. then get LED bulbs and she'll shine through. Headlights can be blackened but you'll still need the reflecting plates for you lights to shine forward, and carbon mirors sound cool, but I'd do a thin 1 to 3 cm this strip to go horizontally through the middle of the outside of each "mirror pod" and paint the non carbon parts body color.

If you have any left over, could I send you the dimensions for my 3rd brake light and ask you make a little cover with the "Rx-7" logo cutout? I'd apply my own adhesive and such, but I think it'd be cool. Maybe use the cutout as a badge to replace my little "Rx-7" sticker from the factory.

Yeah, what I'd do is take a stensil of my tail light, scan it into the computer, and digitally photoshop out the coutout, then you could make the piece. Sound cool? I'll pay shipping.

 

let me see a quick link of the 3rd light?
and you want a "RX-7" Cut out in the middle of it? hmm that might be really hard.
unless I cut the RX-7 Part out before I lay it down.

 

Yeah, I'd do it before to keep from hard cut edges on the resin. If you printed out my scan it'd be life size. Let me get you a pic of what the light looks like. It's a little rounded rectangle.

would you be taking that lense off or leaving it on?
how much of a indent does it give? I would have to do atleast two layers of CF and resin

 

Leaving it on and putting the CF "plate" over it with automotive doubled sided tape. It is almos flush with the sheetmetal but maybe receeds 1/8th of an inch.

 

I might be able to do 1 layer then, but you might be able to see through the cf in some places.
if I go 2 layers it might be to thick and stick out
