Default Whats up!!

Hey all!
I'm new to this forum but I've actually owned my 91' B2200 for quite a while now. It was the car I learned to drive standard on and I'm going to be 19 in January. The Engine was rebuilt but who knows if it was any good. Whoever rebuilt it used silicone to try to make a valve cover gasket so it started leeking from there but I fixed that. As it is now..... Sometimes it will knock (like there isn't enough oil) really quick when I first start it. Also it will burn oil (blue smoke) untill the engine heats up. Now from what I understand the problem is a specific type of oil filter and the valve seals. I just changed the oil yesterday and I got a Mazda oil filter from a dealership so hopefully the knocking when it starts up will stop. What are your opinions on this?
