Default upgrade!

Hello,

I purchased my first 2006 mazda 3 hatchback roughly a year ago, and a few days ago I recieved a letter in the mail regarding a '3 day special' my mazda dealership was offering for trades. I'm very content with my current mazda, but I figured I would go and see what they had to offer. Im currently on a 5 year term with my 06 but they were offering a 7 year term for a brand new 2012 mazda 3 sport with the sky-active technology! Overall, I would be paying roughly $30 more bi-weekly for a vehicle 6 years newer (excluding the gas savings) Ofcourse, I took the opportunity and will be seeing my car in the next few weeks

I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is up to!

From my perspective it sounds like you're a little over extended with your current car; adding three more years and an extra $60+ per month to your load sounds like a very bad idea.

At least she gets new warranty and no high repair bills to worry about and better gas mileage.
Hope you're pleased. I hope you have a solid job.
Good luck. Enjoy that new car smell!

I'm thinking the if OP goes with the new car he or she will be upside-down on the seven year note for the first six of the seven years.

I'm having a hard enough time wrapping my brain around the fact that the OP bought a five year old car on a five year note (which he or she is now a year into); but to then compound that by rolling whatever negative equity exists in the current car into a new seven year loan is beyond my comprehension.

I agree, sounds like maybe OP may have paid too much for a used car, however, the new car deal may be worth it in because of it. Hopefully, it was the same dealer, and they gave her a good trade in value.
