Update 2011 CX-9 Navigation system
I am wondering if anyone else has found a solution to a problem I have with my 2011 Mazda CX-9 navigation system and how to update it. My system is the older system that uses a DVD and not an SD card for the maps. I understand you can download the update using the Mazda update tool but it only works for SD cards and the tool will not work on any generic SD card, it has to be a formatted Mazda SD card. My car does not have an SD card slot for it anyway. I am just wondering if anyone can get a Mazda SD card, transfer the information onto a regular DVD, and then attempt to use that new DVD to update the navigation system. In Ohio where I live there have been significant changes in the highways and new subdivisions and stores created since 2011 and the system gets me lost several times or does not recognize any new roads or highways.

Personally, I think your best option is a aftermarket windscreen mounted Tomtom or Garman Satnav.
