Default Umm, hi, I'm new!

Hi, my name is Chris and I'm new here. I registered and went straight to asking a question, after searching of course, so since introductions seem to be appreciated, here I am. I recently bought a 2008 CX-9 Grand Touring. It had 135k miles on it but the 1 owner took really good care of it, no rips in the seats, paint still looks good, the only thing really wrong with it relatively minor things like worn bushings and shocks, stuff like that. Oh, and at least one of the Bose speakers has quit working but that's expected I guess. So far it's a great car, I use it primarily for long trips, 500+ miles each way, with no problems. I'm a little disappointed with the MPG but it's better than paying $500 a month for a newer car that uses less gas. Any way, I'm rambling, thank you all for providing a resource like this for people like me. I hope to learn more about my car while browsing this site.

Just curious what your average MPG is on your 500+ mile trips?

That may be a bit low if you have good driving habits.

Did you:
Check 36 psi tires
Check tread wear pattern for alignment
Clean air filter
Clean MAP, IAT sensors
Clean Throttle body
Check spark plugs visual examination and or change.

Yep, tire pressure is good

Check tread wear pattern for alignment
One of the first things I did was get 2 new tires, the other 2 are still good, and an alignment but there are some suspension bushings that'll need to be replaced, I'm working on getting that taken care of.

Clean air filter
clean as a whistle
Clean MAP, IAT sensors
nope, haven't done that.

Clean Throttle body
haven't done that one either

I guess I should do that too.

I did take it to the shop a few days after getting it and asked them to do a good inspection so that I could know what to expect to repair but it doesn't look like they did those last three. What kind of mpg should I be getting? Thanks for the info.

Inspection do not really cover the throttle body or sensors. Both can have an effect on power as well MPG.
