Default Starting problem on a 99' B2500 diesel twin cab.

Hi everyone,

My father has a B2500 diesel that required a fair bit of welding on the chassis to pass it's mot and now that has been done, it's suddenly stopped starting altogether. He kept cranking at it until the starter stopped working (sounds bad but the pinion let go so now have that fixed....). We refitted the starter and split an injector pipe but don't see any fuel at the pump and it seems to be priming on the pump ok.

Does anyone now it this age of truck is OBD2 so we could plug in for codes and what fuel relays or switches could be causing this problem. It has run as sweet as a nut for the last four years so he's pretty gutted it's gone wrong. It was owned by an enthusiast before who cherished it and it's lifted and chromed out so he would like to try and get it going again so any advice / wiring info / etc. would be a great help.

Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you all
Alan

We've looked at the truck again and tried to run the truck on a gravity fed diesel tank but no joy, we think it may be linked to a red light that flashes on the dash which flashes twice in sequence then flashes another 4 flashes. The red light that illuminates is a red car with a key symbol in the middle, it's just below the fuel gauge on the binnacle, anyone any idea what this light may be?? I can only assume there is a diagnostic port somewhere but don't know where to look to be honest.

Regards
Alan
