Default Rear end whirring noise

Just purchased a new CX-50 and am very disappointed. Car has so much road noise but mostly frustrated with the drivetrain howl that can be heard at various speeds most prevalent at 55-60 mph. Purchased car on 2/14 and been in shop since 2/21. I was given a new CX-50 loaner that has the exact same problem. Mechanic admits it is a problem however no clue how to fix. Mechanic /dealership working with Mazda engineers to try and resolve. Beware future CX-50 buyers as I think Mazda has some issues with the new model.

Your problem is an isolated incident at this point.
And I sincerely doubt that the dealership is working with MAZDA "engineers" on your problem. While it may sound good it does not work that way with Mazda or any other auto manufacture.

As for what you personally think road noise is, what happened to your test drive when deciding on a new vehckle purchase?

Sorry but I find it in bad form when a new member joins and beeetches about their MAZDA in the first post!

Good luck with your Mazda and the service to resolve the issue to which I am confident MAZDA and your dealership will take care of you!

Status as of today, according to the Mazda dealership, is it has been escalated to a “hotline case” and that The Mazda Rep. is involved. Issue is observed to be a vibration, hum at 1600-1900 rpm and been determined to be a drivetrain issue. Dealership will continue to work with Mazda to try and resolve issue. As far as an isolated issue - loaner CX-50 has same problem.

The previous post was meant for information for those interested in buying a CX-50 and not meant as a beetch about Mazda. We own a 2018 CX-5, love it and have no issues.

I do hope they find the problem and fix it since it is a very nice car.
